Design on a Dime

Target.com's home section has some amazing finds that are not offered in their stores. I was looking for lucite furniture on the cheap and my google search led me to their website. They also offer free shipping on almost all of their furniture which is rare for most home goods stores. The knockoffs of the Philippe Starck ghostchairs are my favorite. They're $339.99 for the pair, which is way cheaper than the real version.
Acrylic Stool/Magazine Caddy- $119
Owl Lamp (Jonathan Adler Knockoff)- $36
Mirrored Console Table- $219.99
Tripod Floor Lamp- $400
Yellow Asian Garden Stool- $210
Mirrored Side Table- $80

Neo + Leo

You've probably noticed by my love of all things neon that I am a child of the eighties. Another love of mine is leopard. I honestly don't think I could ever own enough. The trick to making leopard look chic and not like Peggy Bundy is to use it in moderation. A belt here, a sandal there, etc. This look combines neon & leopard so well. Add a pair of white jeans and this is the perfect outfit for the beginning of spring.

Stubbs & Wooten

I feel as though there is an emerging trend in flat footwear with the updated loafer. While Bass pennyloafers are becoming all the rage, I'm leaning towards these make-your-own slippers from Stubbs & Wooten. For a measley $475 you can chose your own style, fabric, trim, & a fun little character.

Recent Obsession: Warren Platner for Knoll

Warren Platner was a groundbreaking interior designer during the 1960's. His line for Knoll was the quintessential mid-century modern decor. I have been seeing the classic Knoll Platner chairs alot lately. Mostly in decor magazines and in the Smyth Tribecca Hotel rooms(embarrassingly enough i noticed the lime green ones while watching some Kardashian reality show). Be warned: these chairs are outrageously expensive but I think they are the perfect piece to build a room around. Now if only I were a Kardashian, I could afford them.

Karen Walker

I'm currently obsessing over these Karen Walker sunglasses I found on Shopbop. They look alot like the H&M ones that Lanvin did in black. I think the tortoise gives them a less harsh look. $180

Easter

Spicing up the usual cupcake routine with Williams Sonoma Sugar, Food Coloring, & Jelly Beans. It's funny how creative you can be just by using things found around your house. Hoppy Easter!

A Shoe In

I recently visited Bergdorf Goodman's Shoe Salon. I really think they have the best shoes of any store this season. Brightly colored suedes, Swarvoski crystals, patent bows, and adorned heels created a dizzying effect of over the third floor of the iconic department store. It was almost too much combined with the swirl of activity created by so many shoppers in one place. Amazingly enough, this recession has not ceased to calm the urge to purchase these walking works of art. Street Style

Lately, I've been having a hard time tearing myself away from Street Style sites like The Sartorialist. I find it so much more interesting to see someone use different inspirations in real life as opposed to in a magazine or on a runway. Because let's face it, there are some trends that just don't translate to everyday life. In honor of that, here are some of my favorite Street Style pics that I've collected recently.

Do a little dance........

My Aunt emailed me the other day and said she was going to a 70s themed party and needed some outfit ideas. There can't be a better time for a 70s themed party than right now. 70s style is everywhere, high-waisted flare jeans are in every store at every price point. I picked a couple of my favorite retro pieces and put them together for her here.
Hat, URBN
Blouse, TOPSHOP
Sunglasses, FOREVER21
Wedges, TORY BURCH
Jeans, GAP
Belt, DELIA'S

My Favorite New Store: Poppy

This weekend was reserved for visiting a few stores in Nolita & The Lower East Side. Court, Honey In The Rough, Narnia, and Poppy have been on my to-do list for quite some time now. I felt like I could definitely find a little something in each of these boutiques but, the one with the most promise was Poppy. Located on 281 Mott street, the store was extremely tiny but maximized the space with designers such as Alexander Wang, Wilt, and Kenny (my latest obsession is their shorts, seen here on shopbop). They also had an awesome selection of very affordable belts under $40. There were so many great scarves and silk dresses and tops that were also reasonably priced. The wilt cardigan I was eyeing was actually on sale, not bad for $70. With so many cute pieces, Poppy is going to the top of my rotation.

Dirty Laundry

Laundry Hampers are not necessarily a thrilling purchase. I actually think I have had the same one since college that I frugally purchased at T.J. Maxx (It was straw and had a tiny palm tree on it.......ugh). But leave it to West Elm, Pottery Barn, and Restoration Hardware to make hampers so aesthetically pleasing that they make you believe $149 is no big deal to spend on something you put dirty jeans in. I am currently leaning towards the White lacquer West Elm option but the Pottery Barn French rolling version is adorable but, $149 for a hamper! I also really like the style of the Restoration Hardware hamper. I feel like this is a popular trend right now in interior design to use vintage graphics in a modern way. Which hamper is your favorite?

That 70s Show

I purchased these jeans on sale at Bloomingdale's today. I never would have tried them on unless i saw this picture of Rumi Neely on her blog fashiontoast. I love the way she wears them, she kinda looks like a cracked out park avenue housewife, but in a good way.

Wish List: West Elm Faceted Mirror Side Table

I thought that finding a bedside table would be such an easy task. I just knew that I would be able to find a perfect one at my favorite antiques store while at home. Lately, I've really had a hard time finding a stylish, yet affordable one that could also hold a laptop. Not to mention that my taste in home decor has been altered a bit since moving to the city. I've been admiring this one from West Elm for the past 3 months and I think it's finally time I commit. It has the perfect modern feel that I'm looking for.
